FIVE SONS HONOR DR. EBERHARD

Fathers' Day 1999 at Historic Trinity

The family unit is the basic element of all society. Families, which have been blessed to have both a father and mother present, can be thankful. On Sunday, June 20th, Father's Day, Historic Trinity said a special thanks to all fathers, in all three worship services. Each, male present, received a flower in honor of fathers, past and present. The Rev. Dr. David Eberhard delivered the Father Day's message.

During the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service, the five sons of The Rev. Dr. David Eberhard and their families, including 2 grandsons who are the 27th generation of Eberhard's, honored him as their father and celebrate his 40th anniversary in the ministry. Dr. Eberhard and his wife, Beverly Eberhard, also celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

All five sons, ages 30 to 39 years old, and four grandchildren were born in Detroit at St. John's Hospital. The 5 sons attended Bethany Lutheran School and Lutheran High School East. Michael (39), graduated from the University of Michigan and is a teacher and art retailer. Mark (37), graduated from Michigan State University and is a teacher at St. Clair High School. Mark, is married to Kim , who is also a teacher at St. Clair High, and they have three children Erin, Erich, and Ean. Timothy (35), attended Michigan State University and graduated from Concordia University - River Forest, is a teacher and coach in Chicago public schools. Paul (33), graduated from St. Cloud University and is a master carpenter, and has a daughter Stephaney. David Charles Carl (30), attended Concordia University - River Forest, graduated from University of Michigan, and graduated from University of Detroit Mercy and is an attorney. David is married to Karin who is a teacher.

Dr. Eberhard was ordained into the Holy Ministry by his father, the Rev. Dr. Carl Eberhard in 1959. His entire ministry has been served in the City of Detroit at Riverside Lutheran, Holy Trinity Polish Lutheran, Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran and Pastor of Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, since 1983. Dr. Eberhard is deeply honored to have his wife, his five sons and their families present this Father's Day. He notes the strength of their family lies in a strong faith in God, nurturing by a loving mother, and his guidance as a father.
